Event Details

The Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition is a fun opportunity for students to get involved with a real world application of math and science. This contest challenges teams of students to demonstrate their ingenuity by building a strong, light, and aesthetically pleasing bridge using only Popsicle sticks and white glue. On contest day, we will load up the bridges and see if any are left standing!

The competition will take place a week before the start of National Engineers Week on February  11, 2012 (Saturday) at the Museum of Flight in Seattle, WA.  Registration and check in will start at 8:30 AM

We will be in a different building at the Museum of Flight this year at the Simonyi Space Gallery on the Northwest corner of S. 94th Place and East Marginal Way S.  Parking will be available on the west side of E Marginal Way S if you turn at S 94th PL.

Seattle ASCE YMF

But what IS the YMF anyway?!? The Younger Member Forum (YMF) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) is a group of young* civil engineers. YMF members have the opportunity to volunteer in the local community, network with peers, work on professional development, and socialize with other young civil engineers. Throughout the year, we participate in many projects and host events such as the Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Competition for local High School Students, Seattle Works Day, Rebuilding Together, technical tours, monthly young engineer happy hours, ASCE Conferences, and other activities.
